This is my second time getting this 'anugerah' and I thank God for His guidance in making me be the person I am today. Well, actually the teacher I am today.
In July 2008, I attended an international conference at Saujana Kuala Lumpur. Well, not only attended actually but I co-presented a paper there, together with Mr Jedd Bartlett , my collegue from Core Education New Zealand. It was indeed a very pleasant experience to be able to share knowledge and experience with participants from all over the world. And as a result from that gathering I am now a junior member of IFIP. The chairman, Pieter Hogenbirk, from Holland , sent me an email last month and told me that in the AGM in Brazil last month, they have agreed to bring me onboard as junior member...What an achievement! There is another similar conference going to be held in Singapore next year but I am sad to say that my application to have the MOE financing me to the conference was not supported well due to the economic crisis at present. :-(
Dr Jafri fromUSM , together with Shariza from NCER visited our school for bench marking purpose, to have a rough idea on our niche area. I talked to them about my global classroom connection and GB talked about his intervention in eRM.
At the end of 2007, 15 of us in KPEC team were chosen to undergo a masterclass programme to New Zealand. There we visited schools and meet with teachers and school leaders. I was very thrilled to learn new things from these people. And most of the things learnt there I brought home and put into practice with my students here. I am so glad I went there. Check out these cool photos. It was really a fun trip.
We worked at displaying our KPEC website and also showcasing how skype video call is done in teaching and learning. There were thousands of people there that day. Gosh!
Our KPEC team had a showcase in SMK Raja Perempuan Kelsom Kuala Kangsar and guess what??? The Sultan came and visited our booth. It was awesome..!! Kuddos to Syahmi , my talented student.
Left : Puteri Intan Wardati talking about their project Self Access Learning (SAL website) to Helen Clark, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Dato Seri Hishamuddin Minister of Education at that time, and Dato Yaacob b Nordin, CEO of KPerak Inc Corp.
Right : Nur Afiqah Aimi and Nur Subha doing a showcase on skype vidoe call at UPSI in conjunction with UPSI's ICT week and convocation. These kids are superb. They talked to my friend, Jane Nicholl's class in Dunedin.
I have had my own personal blog and I am also using blog with my kids in class. I found it very interesting and it is really amazing how blogging can bring the world closer to me. I get to know more friends from all over the world. I get to share knowledge with so many people around the globe. I have very good set of students who are absolutely fantastic. They do wonders in my class. And all of us belong to a fantastic school with so many great achievements. That makes me thinking..I want my friends from all over the place to see more, learn more about us. I want them to be able to get daily news about what is happening in school every day. So, I come out with this..let us see how far I can do this :-)
